How to create a basic floor plan with live values using the Graphics Builder in Turntide. Floor plans are a great way to monitor and manage your entire building.
Floor plans are a great way to monitor and manage your entire building. Using the graphics builder, you can import custom floor plans of your building and overlay live data from the equipment serving the space (.png, .jpeg and .svg files are supported).
In this example, we will import a floor plan, label a space and link the current room temperature.
- Open the Graphics tool from the toolbar on the left-hand side of the application.
- Select the Templates tab. To start a new graphic, click Add New.
- Fill in the Customer using the graphic, as well as Name and Description of the graphic. Click Save to create the builder environment, and Edit to enter the builder.
- From the components list on the left side of the builder, add an Image. Click on the image template and click Select File under properties. Select the desired floor plan file to import.
- Tip: For best display in the app, always place your floor plans in the top left corner of the builder.
- Under the Text category in the components list, add a Link. Drag to place in the desired location on the image. Under text properties, fill out the following:
- Link Text: Label to describe the space.
- Link To: Relative URL
- Link By: Equipment
- Site: Select site that will use the graphic.
- Equipment: Select device that you wish to link to text.
- Under the Text category in the components list, add a Value. Drag to place in desired location. Under text properties, scroll down and click Add Datasource. Fill out the following:
- Source: Current Value
- Link By: URI
- Site: Select site that will use the graphic.
- Equipment: Select device that you wish to link data from.
- Points: Select the data point to display. In this example, we use Room Temperature.
- Click Save. Select the Configuration tab to link the graphic to the site. Click Add New.
- Fill in the Customer, Name and Description of the graphic. Under Linked Graphic, check the box of the graphic that was just created. Under Default Graphic, select which graphic will appear when you first click on the site. Click Next.
- Under Link To, select Site. Click Link on the desired site under Linked Sites.
Congrats! You've now created a new way to view your building and control the equipment inside it. If you choose to make any future changes to your existing graphic, just return to Templates and select Edit. Since you already linked to the site, Steps 7-9 do not need to be repeated.
Have fun, and feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions along the way...
